the examinations.
Tanko reiterated the commitment of
the Nigerian Prisons Service to humane confinement, reformation and
rehabilitation of inmates.
He stated that assisting inmates to
have access to educational opportunities at all levels was one notable way of
keeping alive their hope of a successful return to the larger society.
He observed that Kuje Prison had
continued to record impressive inmates’ participation in external examinations
since the programme started in 2010, adding that close to 41 inmates have
enrolled for various degree programmes in the National Open University of
Nigeria Special Study Centre in the prison.
